In IT country, an IT solution is being implemented to perpetuate the memory of the fallen in World War II
The well-known social project “Remember” in Belarus is expanding its geography and socially significant functionality.
The social project “Remember” is a free publicly available database for finding burial places in Belarus. The goal of the project is to enable any person to quickly, free of charge and without unnecessary efforts to find the burial places of friends and relatives.
The project has been developing for several years, and all this time the social significance of the project has been increasing as its socially significant functions and capabilities expand.
Today, one of such socially significant tasks of the development of the project is the digitization, that is, the introduction into the electronic database of all the mass graves of the Great Patriotic War that survived on the territory of Belarus.
Recently, one of the most important stages in the implementation of this task was completed: entering detailed information about all the remaining fraternal military graves in the city of Minsk and the Minsk region into the database.
The detailed information includes a description of the location and exact geolocation of the mass grave with the possibility of building a route, a photo of the mass grave, the number of burials, as well as the names and surnames of those who rest there (if they are known).
Another socially important function of the “Remember” project is the ability for any user to submit a request for a free search for the burial of someone from their families if this burial has not yet been included in the project database.
Project staff will help to find the burial place free of charge, not only in Belarus, but also in Russia and Ukraine. To submit such an application, you must fill out the appropriate form on the project website, after selecting one of the three countries of search – Belarus, Russia or Ukraine.
Such a search can take from a week to a year. The more information about the desired burial place and the information about the deceased is included in the application, the faster it will be found.
In addition, a component of the project that is very useful for each user is the creation of a single information catalog of organizations that provide funeral services and services for the improvement of burials.
The catalog will provide honest feedback on the work of each organization and will provide the opportunity to search for a service provider by destination and location.
